PROS

My manager is kind and focused on helping me. The culture of kindness paired with getting things done is extremely effective.
There is a specific and measurable process for promotions and career progression.
VMware is a big company but in many ways had a startup vibe. That was great because the resources and infrastructure of a big company were there, but it gave most people I worked with freedom to work on many projects.

CONS

Large company so it is possible to affect career growth, unless one actively seeks out opportunities.
Not so great for non system engineers who are looking to work on problems at scale/ML/Distributed systems etc.
Just like any company, it can be more about the management than the company. Some managers don’t know how to provide expectations and communicate for growth. Have never had a review in the time I’ve worked there and have no idea what my expectations are.

“The coding interview will last about 45 minutes and you'll be expected to answer medium / hard Leetcode questions. Coding interviews at Airbnb can be very challenging - no pseudocode here, so be sure to prepare at a level of detail that means your code will pass test cases. Interviewees recommend reviewing basics like searching a binary tree, dfs/bfs, queues/stacks, sort algorithms, etc.”

“First-round was coding round (after being shortlisted from college) then 2 technical rounds, then one managerial and at last an HR round.”

“There was initial phone screen round and after that had 4 onsite interviews each 1 hour. In every interview round there were 1 or 2 programming questions asked and few basic computer science concepts.”
